Wimax Technology
Africa Online services its corporate clients on a Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) network across Tanzania, within Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, Arusha, Moshi and Zanzibar.
Currently using the WiMAX Technology for providing high-performance access and data and voice services in the last-mile through facilitating cost-effective feeding for cellular networks, to enabling building-to-building connectivity and Public Wireless LAN, Alvarion's products represent a full spectrum of wireless broadband applications.
Africa Online's network design consists of various base stations in Dar es Salaam providing service in 5-10km radii using state of the art technology called Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex (OFDM) in the built up areas of the city. This technology allows non or near line of sight (NLOS) connectivity. This means that in the event building blocks or obstructs a potential user from seeing the base station antenna; the signal will be made available by bouncing off a building adjacent to the customer. This is what the non or near line of sight (NLOS) means. It will eliminate the needs for customers to put up tall towers and masts on their premises thus reducing the entry cost into using the service.
VSATAfrica Online provides a truly dedicated link all the way to the Internet backbone with 100% guarantee on unshared bandwidth. To ensure high speed and reliability connectivity for all our Vsat customers, Africa Online delivers a link all the way to the Internet backbone with quality bandwidth. Backbone connectivity quality is assured by maintaining high bandwidth interconnections, at the levels of multiple STM-1s, and ensuring redundant configurations between the various Tier-1 providers.
The solution we offer is C-Band VSAT which is technically ideal for bad weather areas requiring substantial signal, and is more efficient compare with Ku-band solution. The availability and uploading of data that C-Band antenna can provide is far more and scalable than a Ku-band antenna of the same size.
For a client to experience the same availability on Ku-band he needs to have a much larger dish at much more cost. Also Ku-band suffers so much from signal attenuation by heavy rain and dust weather. Furthermore, Africa Online recommends a C-Band solution with efficient bandwidth with guaranteed service level as opposed to a shared ‘‘best effort'' low cost link on some Ku-bands.
VoIPThe VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) allows you to make and receive phone calls through your broadband internet connection using a standard touch - tone phone.
There are 3 main causes for the evolution of the VoIP market:
With VoIP, subscriber will enjoy free calls on net calls and cheap off net (international)calls to other destinations of the world. |
